What’s Next for Oscar Isaac? Fact-Checking Rumors on Upcoming Movies and Tv
By Sarah Jenkins
Digital trade circles have buzzed over The Roman, a gritty historical drama tracking the early origins of Julius Caesar before his ascent to supreme dictatorial power. The project has moved through various stages of studio interest across the industry, with Isaac's name attached as both a potential lead and executive producer.
What is verified? Development rooms change rapidly. While the premise was initially positioned as an action-driven origin piece examining Caesar’s youth, including his legendary abduction by Cilician pirates, the title is not actively shooting. Isaac’s team has evaluated several high-concept period dramas, but production calendars show The Roman remains in script polish and development rather than advanced pre-production.
Netflix's sweeping catalog announcements for upcoming slates confirm the streamer is heavily invested in Isaac's creative output, primarily through Frankenstein. Rumors claiming cameras are already rolling on an ancient Rome set misinterpret exploratory packaging for an imminent shoot.
