Snapchat Plus Feature Rollout: What Changes for Free vs Paid Accounts
A major point of confusion centers on features that provide incoming surveillance rather than outgoing signals. The Story Rewatch count, represented by eyes paired with a numeric indicator next to a story viewer list, is strictly client-facing. If someone views your story multiple times, you do not receive an alert unless you pay for the tier, and the app never names specific rewatchers. It merely aggregates how many friends watched the clip more than once. Consequently, you cannot determine if an acquaintance has the perk based on how you view their public stories.
Similarly, the Ghost Trails indicator allows subscribers to review the 24-hour location movement history of friends who openly share their coordinates on the Snap Map. Using Ghost Trails does not broadcast a notification to the person whose path is tracked. Unless a user voluntarily shares their screen or references past coordinate data during conversation, this capability leaves zero visible breadcrumbs on the tracked user's end.
