Timeline of a Viral Hoax: How the Ryan Garcia Sister Onlyfans Rumor Blew up Online
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Q1: Did Ryan Garcia’s sister ever launch an OnlyFans account?
A1: No. Neither Demi Garcia nor any other sister of Ryan Garcia has ever created or operated an account on the platform. The rumor was a completely fabricated hoax engineered by click-farming social media accounts.
Q2: Why did this specific rumor gain so much traction in 2024?
A2: The claim coincided with intense viral media coverage surrounding Ryan Garcia’s pre-fight controversies. Bad-faith accounts capitalized on heightened search volumes around the fighter by fabricating sensational claims about his family members to maximize click-through rates.
Q3: What were the fake screenshots circulating on TikTok and Twitter?
A3: The circulating images were manipulated mockups created by overlaying Demi Garcia’s public, non-explicit Instagram photos onto fake platform profile templates. Many were accompanied by malicious links directing users to ad-heavy spam networks or phishing pages.
