From Timmy to a New Godchild: Fact-Checking Wanda’s Full Canonical Lore

An essential feature on From Timmy to a New Godchild: Fact-Checking Wanda’s Full Canonical Lore, covering critical updates.

One of the persistent questions across the fandom concerns Timmy Turner's adult fate and Wanda's canonical departure. In classic lore, children surrender their fairies upon turning ten, or whenever their lives stabilize enough that misery no longer dictates their daily routine. The series delayed this inevitability through various narrative dodges, including the infamous "Secret Wish" storyline where Timmy wished for everyone to stop aging. Once that wish was undone, Timmy’s timeline moved forward.

Nickelodeon's expanded media has presented contrasting fates for Timmy. In the live-action television film trilogy starring Drake Bell, Timmy actively resisted adulthood to retain Cosmo and Wanda, eventually earning an exemption as a "Fairy Godparent Extraordinaire." However, later canonical expansions took a different route. By the time Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder launched in 2022, Timmy was an adult heading off to Princeton University, officially gifting his fairies to his younger cousin Viv Turner. Wanda transitioned from a child's constant companion to an inherited family protector.

Before these reboots materialized, internal discussions at Nickelodeon explored expanding the magical family unit. Following the massive ratings generated by 2008’s "Fairly OddBaby", which introduced Cosmo and Wanda’s purple child, Poof, production staff floated concepts for a standalone Fairy World preschool spinoff centered around Poof and magical daycare dynamics. That project never made it into full series production. Poof’s narrative thread sat dormant for years until The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish resurrected the character as an adult named Peri, complete with bowling-pin aesthetics and his own distinct magical identity.
