Who Is Lwazie Keith Tsebesha? Meet the Breakout Star Dominating Netflix's the Polygamist
By David Miller
Before global streaming platforms brought her work to millions of living rooms, Tsebesha spent years honing her craft on local stages and independent sets across KwaZulu-Natal. Durban has long maintained a distinct dramatic tradition, distinguished by rich Zulu dialogue and narratives grounded in communal friction. Tsebesha tapped directly into that theatrical heritage.
Industry casting directors had tracked her work in regional stage showcases for several seasons. Her delivery stood out: subtle facial micro-expressions, commanding vocal projection, and a refusal to play characters as simple archetypes. Where other young performers chased predictable romantic leads, Tsebesha leaned into roles marked by moral ambiguity and sharp emotional edges. That appetite for friction made her the clear choice when showrunners began casting the sprawling patriarchal household of The Polygamist.
