1979 Chinese Horoscope Sign Revealed: the Calendar Chart That Settles the Goat Debate

Breaking down the facts behind 1979 Chinese Horoscope Sign Revealed: the Calendar Chart That Settles the Goat Debate—check out the main takeaways.

The Gregorian calendar starts on January 1, but the Chinese calendar chart measures time through agricultural and astronomical movements. In 1979, the Lunar New Year fell on January 28, 1979.

This single date draws a definitive line through the year. If your birth certificate reads January 15, 1979, you are not a Goat. You were born during the closing weeks of the 1978 lunar cycle, making your animal sign the Horse, specifically the Yang Earth Horse.

Astrological consultants encounter this January 1979 birth horoscope confusion constantly. Western novelty charts print animal symbols by full calendar years, flattening a nuanced lunisolar system into an oversimplified graphic. For someone born on January 26, 1979, identifying as a Goat introduces a fundamental misalignment in personal forecasting. You carry the independent, restless nature of the equines rather than the cautious, community-oriented disposition of the caprines.
