Everything You Need to Know About the 'I Smell Pennies' Tiktok Trend and Gif Memes
By Alexander Ross
Q1: Who recorded the original "I Smell Pennies" voice?
A1: The audio originates from a viral 2016 Vine sketch created by Ruth Cohen. The line was performed into a phone microphone using basic pitch modulation and gain amplification to create the signature demonized audio effect.
Q2: Why does the audio sometimes disappear from TikTok videos?
A2: Community-uploaded sounds that include copyrighted ambient noise or trigger automated platform filters occasionally get flagged or muted during routine sweep updates. To avoid muted drafts, favor tracks labeled with public domain status or high community reuse counts.
Q3: How do I find transparent versions of the GIF for external video editing?
A3: Search "I smell pennies transparent" or "I smell pennies green screen" on GIF search engines like Tenor or GIPHY. For desktop software like Premiere Pro or CapCut, downloading an MP4 green-screen clip directly from YouTube yields the highest visual control.
