Who Is the Man in the Crying Meme? Everything You Need to Know
By James H. Sterling
The life of Rocky Lockridge illustrates the wide gulf between an internet caricature and lived reality. Millions of people who laughed at a two-second reaction loop never knew that the man on their screen once knocked out world champions and proudly held championship belts above his head.
As internet communities become more conscious of the human cost behind viral culture, Lockridge’s legacy deserves an honest reappraisal. He was neither a prop for social media jokes nor an anonymous face in a reaction folder. He was a champion athlete, an imperfect father, and a survivor who bore his soul on national television to salvage his bond with his family.
James Sterling reports on renewable energy developments, climate policy, ecological conservation, and green tech innovations around the globe.
