On February 22, 2021, TikTok moderators pulled the plug. Visitors to @thatveganteacher encountered an error message stating the account could no longer be found. The company confirmed the decision stemmed from repeated, unaddressed community guidelines violations, particularly regarding hate speech and targeted harassment.
| Date | Event & Target | Platform Response |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-2020 | Launch of primary account; rapid follower surge | Account verified; organic algorithmic promotion |
| Nov 2020, Jan 2021 | Provocative videos using historical atrocities as analogies | Individual video strikes and temporary live-stream suspensions |
| Feb 22, 2021 | Sexualized comments directed at teenage streamer TommyInnit | Permanent TikTok ban; removal of 1.7M-follower profile |
| Feb, Mar 2021 | Creation of multiple ban evasion accounts | Automated detection sweeps ban half a dozen alt handles |
| Aug 1, 2021 | YouTube callout targeting MrBeast over meat consumption | Content remains on YouTube amid heavy community downvoting |
Diekmeyer did not accept the decision quietly. Hours after the ban took effect, she uploaded a fiery YouTube response video titled after her removal, clad in an animal rights shirt, singing a custom track mocking her critics. She claimed the platform was silencing her because people were uncomfortable facing the truth about industrial slaughterhouses, dismissing the harassment claims as coordinated slander.
