The pivotal turning point in Campbell's career came in August 2022. Emerging from the pandemic hiatus that froze global touring, Campbell debuted his unassumingly titled set, Comedy Show, at the Monkey Barrel in Edinburgh. Fringe festival reviews were universally glowing, with critics struggling to describe a performance that featured custom-made flipbooks, surreal confessions, and sudden bursts of loud techno music.

The Edinburgh Comedy Award panel named Campbell the winner of the prestigious Best Show prize, the premier honor for solo performance in live comedy. Past recipients of the prize, including Steve Coogan, Dylan Moran, and Bridget Christie, used the award as a direct springboard into broadcast television. Campbell treated the win with characteristic irreverence, yet the industry pivot was instantaneous. Ticket sales for his London Soho Theatre transfers sold out in minutes, and he picked up multiple honors at the Chortle comedy awards within months.
