Who Is Aisha Tyler? Everything to Know About the Criminal Minds Star and Director
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Q1: Why did Aisha Tyler leave CBS's The Talk in 2017?
A1: Tyler stepped down from the daytime talk show because of scheduling conflicts. Between shooting Criminal Minds, voicing Lana Kane on Archer, hosting Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and launching her directing career, daily live broadcasts proved impossible to sustain.
Q2: Did Aisha Tyler direct any episodes of Criminal Minds?
A2: Yes. Tyler directed multiple episodes of both the original CBS run and the Paramount+ revival, Criminal Minds: Evolution, making her one of the few cast members to pull double duty as series star and episodic director.
Q3: What was Aisha Tyler's first feature film as a director?
A3: Her feature directorial debut was the 2017 indie thriller Axis, starring Emmett Hughes. The film was financed through Kickstarter and shot entirely on location in Los Angeles over a seven-day window.
