Where to Stream Chase Hudson's Movie 'How to Lose a Popularity Contest': Cast, Plot & Guide
By James H. Sterling
The narrative leans directly into classic teen romantic comedy conventions. The storyline centers on an ambitious, academic overachiever played by Sara Waisglass, whose laser focus on university admissions hits a sudden roadblock when social status begins dictating senior-year honors. Hudson stars as her magnetic, effortlessly popular classmate who seems to glide through high school without facing real consequences.
When the school introduces an unexpected popularity metric that threatens the heroine’s academic future, she devises an elaborate scheme to dismantle the social hierarchy from within. Her strategy requires getting close to Hudson’s character, sparking a chaotic sequence of campus rivalries, staged misunderstandings, and accidental vulnerability. As the official trailer previewed, their shared schemes inevitably blur the line between calculated manipulation and authentic attraction, forcing both characters to question whether their carefully curated reputations are worth defending.
James Sterling reports on renewable energy developments, climate policy, ecological conservation, and green tech innovations around the globe.
