Where Is the 'Angus, Thongs' Cast Now? Netflix Reboot Rumors and Shocking Career Paths
By David Miller
Industry reports from mid-2026 revealed that a television series reboot based on Louise Rennison's ten-book Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series is actively in development for broadcast and streaming platforms. Rennison, who passed away in 2016, left behind an expansive catalog of teenage diaries that went far beyond what a single 100-minute film could capture. A multi-episode seasonal format allows screenwriters to track the serialized antics of the Ace Gang, Georgia's pet cat Angus, and her rivalry with Lindsay across a broader narrative canvas.
The creative team faces a delicate tightrope walk. Rennison’s original books used 1990s and early-2000s British teenage slang that resonated because it felt wildly specific to its time. Adapting that voice for contemporary teens requires preserving the author's irreverent absurdity without drowning in modern social-media tropes. Industry insiders indicate the production is considering a period setting, keeping the story anchored in the late 1990s or mid-2000s, to preserve the absence of smartphones that made Georgia's hand-written diaries so intimate.
