What Is Gerbert the Egg? the Bizarre Internet Mystery Exploding Across Tiktok
By Marcus Vance
Q1: Is "Gerbert the Egg" an actual character or just a meme?
A1: The name is a community blend. The character is Gerbert Goblin, a green felt puppet. The "egg" refers to the Spring Egg, the fictional prop he and his companion Clarice spend the special trying to recover.
Q2: Where does the footage seen on TikTok originate?
A2: The clips come from Follow That Bunny!, a 1993 seasonal Easter special produced for direct-to-video distribution on VHS tape.
Q3: Is the special part of an alternate reality game or analog horror project?
A3: No. The program was a genuine, family-oriented holiday production from the early 1990s. The unsettling tone and creepypasta theories were invented by modern social media users through remix culture and decontextualized edits.
