What Does Dtb Really Mean? Fact-Checking the Rumors Behind a Boogie’s Iconic Track
By Alexander Ross
Q1: What does DTB stand for in A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's music?
DTB stands for "Don't Trust Bitches." Across his catalog, including "DTB Interlude" and "DTB 4 Life," the phrase summarizes his wariness toward romantic partners whose intentions change as wealth and notoriety enter the picture.
Q2: Who is A Boogie talking about in the DTB lyrics?
While fans frequently speculate about high-profile relationships like his longtime partnership with influencer Ella Bands, A Boogie recorded the original "DTB Interlude" in 2016 before that public relationship unfolded. The track draws from early personal relationships in the Highbridge section of the Bronx during his transitional period before signing a major label deal.
Q3: How did DTB become a viral TikTok trend?
In 2021 and 2022, social media users began attaching the acronym `#DTB` to short-form videos covering breakup stories, gym progress, and dating red flags. The term split into dual meanings, with male creators using A Boogie's original phrasing and female creators reinterpreting it as "Don't Trust Boys."
Q4: Is DTB connected to Highbridge the Label?
Yes. The track was recorded and released during the foundational days of Highbridge the Label, the independent imprint founded by A Boogie, Quincy "QP" Acheampong, and Bubba. It played a major role in securing the imprint's partnership with Atlantic Records.
