Timeline of Snl's 2026 Harry Potter Parodies: from 'Heated Wizardry' to Hbo Roasts
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
The premise of the January sketch rested on a specific cultural mashup. By intersecting the broody, competitive energy of high-stakes sports romances with the rigid decorum of Hogwarts, the segment cast Wolfhard as an intensely competitive Seeker whose fierce animosity with a rival house captain hid underlying romantic tension. The bit quickly became known online as the Heated Rivalry parody of the season.
Wolfhard committed with deadpan discipline. Flanked by unexpected cameos, including a brief appearance by his former castmates that satisfied calls for a mini Stranger Things reunion, Wolfhard treated ridiculous lines about enchanted brooms with the gravity of an Oscar contender. The sketch avoided cheap nostalgia by targeting the melodramatic conventions of modern streaming dramas, demonstrating how franchise storytelling often takes itself too seriously.
