Confusion often circulates online regarding Flores' exact age at the time of her passing. Some forum accounts mistakenly listed her as 17 or 18, conflating her age with the title of XXXTentacion’s debut album, 17. Verified public records confirm she was 16 years old. Born on July 2, 2000, Flores was still seven weeks shy of her seventeenth birthday.

Her visit to Florida rapidly deteriorated within days of her arrival. Onfroy, his production team, and members of his entourage were staying at the Hampton Inn in Coconut Creek, Florida. The atmosphere grew tense over a missing sum of cash, roughly seven thousand dollars, sparking accusations and arguments inside the hotel suite. While Onfroy attended to business meetings, Flores remained isolated in a separate room.

On the morning of May 14, 2017, hotel staff and members of Onfroy's team discovered Flores unresponsive in her hotel room. Coconut Creek police officers and local emergency medical services arrived shortly thereafter, determining that she had died by suicide via asphyxiation. Detectives processed the scene, ruling out foul play and classifying the tragedy as an intentional self-inflicted death linked to acute depressive distress.
