Timeline of a Meme: How 'Imagine If Ninja Got a Low Taper Fade' Took over the Web
By Robert Thorne
No gaming meme exists in a vacuum. Once Blevins was fully linked to the taper fade, internet communities naturally looked for an opposing force. They found it in Turner "Tfue" Tenney, Ninja's primary competitive and cultural rival during the golden era of Fortnite in 2018.
By October 2024, TikTok feeds began seeing the "Tfue high taper fade" variation. Creators used synthetic voice generators and pitch-shifted audio to invent an alternate timeline where Tenney received an exaggerated high taper to counter Ninja's low fade. The spin-off highlighted how thoroughly the gaming community relies on nostalgic rivalries. Tenney never even had to acknowledge the trend. The sheer momentum of the audience's collective imagination carried the joke across millions of impressions.
