Tiktok #Exchange Coins Exposed: Screenshots and Video Proof Reveal What Really Happens
By James H. Sterling
Our investigation tested the three primary variants of the exchange tutorial circulating on social platforms. We used fresh hardware, isolated network connections, and burner profiles loaded with modest balances to observe the outcome at every step.
The first variant claims that entering a promotional coupon code inside the balance menu converts spent coins back into fiat currency. We followed the tutorial to the letter. Entering the viral string returned a basic error: "Promotion code invalid or expired." A deeper look at the viral video's frames revealed a clean screen cut: the creator paused the recording, recharged 10,000 coins via the desktop portal with an ordinary credit card, and resumed recording to simulate a free balance drop.
The second variant instructs users to visit external "token bridge" websites to claim recharge coin discounts of up to 80 percent. When we navigated to two of the most heavily linked domains, the web pages mimicked the ByteDance account management interface. Both sites immediately prompted for two-factor authentication backup codes. Entering decoy credentials routed the browser to endless affiliate survey loops while background scripts attempted automated logins from IP addresses based in Eastern Europe.
The third variant showcased a legitimate built-in interface marketed dishonestly as an exploit. The video depicted a user turning diamonds into coins without submitting an identity verification document. In our testing, this simply executed the native TikTok exchange diamonds for coins function. It did not create free value. It simply deducted balance from the creator's earned diamond pool to purchase coins at the standard internal platform rate.
