The Strange Thing About the Johnsons Screenings Examined: Theatrical Status and Verified Online Release History
By Robert Thorne
Q1: Is The Strange Thing About the Johnsons playing in any theaters in 2026?
No. The film was never licensed for commercial theatrical distribution. Any ticket links or showtime listings found on online aggregators are automated placeholders.
Q2: Why is the film not available on commercial streaming services like Netflix or Prime Video?
Because it was made as an AFI Conservatory student thesis project, it lacks traditional commercial distribution agreements. Its taboo subject matter also keeps it off family-oriented subscription platforms.
Q3: How long is the film, and is it considered a full-length movie?
It runs exactly 29 minutes and is classified as a narrative short film, not a full-length feature.
Robert Thorne covers electric vehicle innovations, autonomous driving systems, global mobility trends, and automotive engineering developments.
