‘The Housemaid’ Hits Starz: When and How to Stream Sydney Sweeney’s Thriller Milestone
By Alexander Ross
Q1: On which platform can I stream ‘The Housemaid’?
A1: The movie made its official streaming debut on the Starz app and linear channel on April 1, 2026. Following the conclusion of its exclusive pay-one theatrical output window, it transitions to secondary streaming partners as confirmed by industry reports in late 2026.
Q2: Does the movie adaptation change the book’s ending?
A2: The film stays largely faithful to Freida McFadden's novel, preserving the central twist regarding Nina’s orchestration of the plot against Andrew. The movie adds a slightly expanded final scene teasing Millie Calloway’s next assignment as an undercover domestic vigilante.
Q3: Why did the film receive an R rating?
A3: The MPA awarded an R rating due to intense psychological violence, physical altercations during the attic escape, domestic abuse themes, and coarse language throughout the climatic confrontations.
