The Evolution of 'Inting': How Moba Slang Escaped Gaming Lobbies and Conquered Discord
By Marcus Vance
Slang evolves through necessity. Words survive when they fill an empty conceptual space in the cultural lexicon. Before "int" crossed over into mainstream server discourse, people relied on clumsy phrases like "self-sabotage" or clunky idioms like "shooting yourself in the foot" to describe sudden, unforced blunders.
Those older metaphors lack the velocity of modern digital chat. "Int" cuts straight to the point: a reckless surrender of common sense, broadcast live for an entire channel to witness. The term may have abandoned its roots on Summoner's Rift, but its core truth remains intact. Whenever someone blows up their own chances for no logical reason, the internet will have the vocabulary ready.
