The Complete Guide to Madame Morrible: Lore, Staging, and the 'Flip It Around' Enigma
By Sarah Jenkins
Q1: What is the origin of the "Madame Morrible flip it around" quote?
Michelle Yeoh created the phrase during press interviews for the 2024, 2025 theatrical release of Wicked. She pointed out that the letters in Madame Morrible's initials ("MM") flip upside down to spell "WW," representing the Wicked Witch.
Q2: Does Madame Morrible ever say this line in the musical or book?
No. The line never appears in Gregory Maguire's novel, the Broadway script by Winnie Holzman, or the screenplay. It is entirely Michelle Yeoh's unscripted promotional commentary that went viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels.
Q3: How do you trigger the Madame Morrible Google Easter egg?
Search for "Madame Morrible" on Google via desktop or mobile browser. Look for the interactive icon that appears alongside the knowledge panel or search header, then tap it to watch the screen flip her initials from MM into WW.
Q4: What specific magical abilities does Madame Morrible have?
Morrible specializes in manipulating weather patterns. In both the stage show and the film adaptations, she uses her magic to create the deadly cyclone that carries Dorothy Gale's house from Kansas to Oz, killing the Wicked Witch of the East.
