The 2026 Discord Gif Maker Meta: New Upload Limits & Viral Formats
By Chloe Bennett
Q1: Why does Discord's native GIF search return broken links or limited results?
Google officially deprecated the Tenor API on June 30, 2026. Without active API connections, Discord cannot pull fresh libraries from Tenor, leaving users with cached static libraries or manual upload requirements.
Q2: How do I bypass Discord's 10 MB free upload limit for reaction memes?
Rather than paying for Nitro or compressing a GIF into unreadable fuzz, export your clip as a muted WebM or H.264 MP4 video. These modern containers loop seamlessly in chat while consuming roughly 80% less file space than an equivalent GIF file.
Q3: What are the exact dimensions for custom Discord animated emojis?
Animated emojis should be built on a 1:1 aspect ratio at 128x128 pixels. The maximum allowable file size is 256 KB. For animated stickers, build at 320x320 pixels in APNG format under 512 KB.
