Tested: Connecting a Ps4 Dualshock 4 Controller to Switch 2 Step-by-Step
Configuring this setup is straightforward, provided you adjust one critical system setting first.
Step 1: Enable Wired Communication
Boot your Switch 2 and navigate to System Settings > Controllers and Sensors. Scroll down to Pro Controller Wired Communication and toggle it to ON. If you skip this, the console will block all USB adapter feeds.
Step 2: Connect the Adapter
Plug your 8BitDo or Mayflash adapter into an available USB port on the Switch 2 dock. If you are playing in tabletop mode, plug the adapter into the console using a USB-C OTG converter.
Step 3: Enter Adapter Pairing Mode
Press the physical pairing button on the edge of the adapter dongle. The adapter’s LED indicator will pulse rapidly, signaling that it is scanning for incoming signals.
Step 4: Engage PS4 Bluetooth Pairing Mode
Pick up your DualShock 4. Hold the Share button and the central PS button down at the same time for roughly three to four seconds. Release both buttons when the lightbar flashes double white bursts.
Step 5: Confirm the Handshake
Within five seconds, the lightbar on the DualShock 4 will turn solid blue, and the adapter’s LED will stop blinking. The Switch 2 will display a connected controller icon in the lower-left corner of the home screen.
