Spotting Snape: Trailer Breakdown, New Collectibles, and the Iconic Look Revisited
By Sarah Jenkins
Q1: Why does the new HBO series depict a noticeably younger Severus Snape?
A1: In the original books, Severus Snape was born in 1960, making him 31 years old when Harry Potter first arrived at Hogwarts. While Alan Rickman was in his mid-fifties during the filming of the early movies, the HBO series seeks closer fidelity to the canon timeline by casting an actor in their early thirties.
Q2: When is the Sideshow Severus Snape Premium Format Figure releasing?
A2: Following its August 2026 unveiling, pre-orders opened via Sideshow Collectibles with shipments scheduled between late 2026 and mid-2027. The statue retails in the $700, $800 range depending on the collector edition tier.
Q3: What sparked the viral phrase "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape"?
A3: The line originated in the March 2007 viral Flash animation "The Mysterious Ticking Noise" by Neil Cicierega under the *Potter Puppet Pals* banner. The video has accumulated over 200 million views across platforms and remains one of the foundational memes of online fandom.
