Schitt's Creek Expands Worldwide: Tracking David Rose's Global Streaming Resurgence
By James H. Sterling
Q1: Where can I watch Schitt's Creek internationally in 2026?
Streaming rights depend on your region. In the United States, the full six-season run streams on Hulu and select digital purchase storefronts. In Canada, it remains free to stream on CBC Gem. In the United Kingdom, following its April 2026 departure from Netflix, the series is accessible via ITVX alongside digital rental stores.
Q2: Why did Schitt's Creek leave Netflix in multiple countries?
The original global output licenses signed by distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment have reached their term limits. Rather than renewing costly worldwide exclusivity, the distributor opted to license regional rights to local broadcasters and domestic streaming operators to maximize long-term catalog value.
Q3: How many Emmy Awards did the final season win?
In September 2020, the sixth and final season set an industry benchmark by winning nine Primetime Emmy Awards, including a sweep of the top seven comedy categories: Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Eugene Levy), Outstanding Lead Actress (Catherine O'Hara), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Dan Levy), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Annie Murphy), plus directing and writing honors for Dan Levy.
Q4: Will there ever be a Schitt's Creek movie or reboot?
Dan Levy has consistently noted in public interviews that while the creative team remains open to revisiting the Rose family, any continuation requires a compelling narrative justification rather than commercial obligation. No official feature film or reboot series has been greenlit to date.
