What Happened to Andre from Victorious? the Truth About Leon Thomas Iii's Career Pivot
By Chloe Bennett
Producer money and songwriting royalties gave Thomas financial freedom, but they never fully satisfied his ambition as a front-facing performer. In 2022, he signed a joint venture deal with Ty Dolla $ign’s EZMNY Records and Motown, giving him the infrastructure to mount a focused solo campaign.
His 2023 studio album, Electric Dusk, took its name from Los Angeles's historic drive-in theater, offering rich, atmospheric analog textures mixed with modern trap drums. Singles like "Breaking Point" and "Love Him Online" highlighted his vocal control and emotional depth, earning critical praise across the independent music landscape. He was not trying to recreate 1990s nostalgia or hop on algorithmic TikTok trends; he was writing grown, deliberate soul records.
He built directly on that foundation with his fall 2024 album, Mutt. The project leaned into grit, vulnerability, and complex relationships, earning him critical acclaim and headlining tour runs across North America and Europe through 2025. Fans who once knew him only as Andre Harris showed up to sold-out rooms to hear him play live bass and deliver vocal runs without a backing track.
