Fact-Checking Hailee Steinfeld on Tiktok: Pregnancy News, Leaks, and Fan Rumors
By Alexander Ross
Celebrity relationships rarely stay confined to entertainment desks when professional sports intersect with Hollywood. On January 24, 2026, conservative sports media commentator Jason Whitlock published a video segment sharply criticizing Steinfeld. The remarks arrived immediately after she celebrated professional career milestones alongside Allen’s athletic success.
Whitlock framed Steinfeld’s public visibility as an unnecessary distraction for Allen's championship ambitions, echoing old, tired sports commentary tropes that hold women responsible for a male athlete’s on-field performance. The critique quickly ignited fury across TikTok, where fans rallied to defend the True Grit star by pointing out her separate, highly decorated career. Whitlock’s comments generated millions of defensive video essays, inadvertently fueling the very viral noise he claimed to criticize.
The backlash demonstrated how sports commentary can trigger entertainment trends. Rather than marginalizing her, Whitlock's commentary prompted a surge of supportive video compilations spotlighting Steinfeld’s achievements, from her Oscar nomination at age 14 to her central role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
