Proof Behind the Rumor: What Is Roblox Actually Shutting Down in 2026?
By Chloe Bennett
Q1: Is Roblox shutting down permanently in 2026?
A1: No. The viral social media posts claiming a 2026 closure are fabricated hoaxes. The platform continues normal engineering operations, active feature development, and content deployment worldwide.
Q2: Why are certain video and voice chat features disappearing?
A2: Roblox is retiring legacy, unmonitored communication tools to improve platform safety. High-risk video tests have ended, and voice features now require explicit age verification via identity cards or facial estimation algorithms.
Q3: Will inactive or free accounts be deleted to clear server space?
A3: No. Roblox has debunked rumors suggesting non-paying or dormant accounts will be deleted. Accounts remain permanently stored unless they are banned for violating platform community standards.
Q4: How can parents manage their children's access amid these safety changes?
A4: Parents can create linked guardian accounts through updated parental controls. This enables remote moderation of friend lists, limits on daily screen time, spending caps on virtual currency, and age-appropriate content tier restrictions.
