Tiktok Live Rules Update: How Creator Networks and Streaming Policies Changed
Streaming from a PC unlocks multi-source layouts, dedicated gaming feeds, and high-fidelity production setups. TikTok maintains two distinct gateways for computer broadcasting: its proprietary desktop software, TikTok LIVE Studio, and external RTMP stream key distribution.
TikTok LIVE Studio runs on Windows systems and requires a separate application process. To qualify, creators must broadcast from mobile for at least 25 minutes within the previous 30 days and hold a clean safety record. The software allows you to capture screen output, integrate DSLR cameras, and overlay chat boxes without relying on third-party routing.
Desktop Ingestion Settings (Recommended Baseline):
• Resolution: 1080 x 1920 (Vertical) or 1920 x 1080 (Horizontal)
• Frame Rate: 60 fps
• Video Bitrate: 4,000 to 6,000 kbps
• Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds
• Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps (AAC)
Direct stream keys, allowing connection via OBS Studio, vMix, or Wirecast, are heavily restricted. While widely distributed in earlier years, ByteDance pulled back open RTMP access to prevent unmonitored, prerecorded content loops. Today, official stream keys are primarily routed through agency agreements or verified corporate media channels, such as the regional hubs established for major international athletics like the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
