Netease Crackdown: Why Marvel Rivals Season 1 Quietly Killed Player Mods
By Chloe Bennett
Q1: Can I still use visual mods if I only play private matches or practice ranges?
A1: No. The integrity checks run at executable startup before you reach the main menu. If your local files fail hash verification, the game will not initialize, regardless of the game mode you plan to enter.
Q2: Will my account get banned just for leaving old files in the directory?
A2: Abandoned pak files from late 2024 generally trigger startup crashes or prompt the launcher to trigger a file repair. Active bans occur when players run third-party software designed to bypass anti-cheat detection or inject code into memory.
Q3: Will NetEase ever release an official, approved modding toolkit?
A3: Highly unlikely. Due to strict licensing agreements with Marvel Games, every character depiction must pass formal corporate approvals, making open community workshops legally unviable for the hero shooter.
