Level 8 Blonde Before and After: Real Results on Dark Bases, Grays, and Highlights
Once clients leave the salon, home care dictates how long the color lasts. Water quality, heat tools, and ultraviolet radiation strip away sheer acid glosses within twenty washes, allowing raw yellow undertones to push through.
Using a pigment-depositing purple shampoo once every seven to ten days holds brassiness at bay. Overusing purple shampoo is a common pitfall. Porous level 8 strands absorb violet pigment quickly. Using purple wash daily deposits excess cool pigment, turning the hair a dingy, matte violet-gray that looks darker than a true level 8. Alternating purple washes with sulfate-free, bond-building shampoos preserves depth while keeping tones bright.
Thermal styling also alters toner molecules. Ironing level 8 blonde hair at temperatures exceeding 380°F (193°C) physically scorches oxidative toner molecules, burning the gloss right out of the hair fiber. Keeping iron plates below 350°F and applying silicone-free heat protectants keeps toners stable between appointments.
