Why Daredevil: Born Again Killed Foggy Nelson: Charlie Cox and Elden Henson Break Their Silence
By Alexander Ross
Q1: Did the showrunners always plan to kill Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again?
A1: No. In the pre-overhaul scripts written prior to the late 2023 production reset, neither Foggy Nelson nor Karen Page were planned as major on-screen presences. When Dario Scardapane and the new creative team took over, they discussed keeping Foggy alive before concluding that his death was the most potent way to shatter Matt Murdock's world.
Q2: Will Elden Henson appear in Born Again Season 2 or Season 3?
A2: While Foggy is confirmed dead in the present timeline, Elden Henson could return via flashback sequences, previously unrevealed archival legal recordings, or psychological hallucinations reflecting Matt Murdock's internal guilt.
Q3: How did Charlie Cox react to losing his longtime scene partner?
A3: Charlie Cox expressed genuine sadness over the decision, stating in interviews that working on the New York set every day without Elden Henson felt deeply disorienting after spending a decade developing their working relationship.
Q4: Is Foggy Nelson's death comic-accurate?
A4: Foggy has "died" multiple times in Marvel Comics, most notably during Brian Michael Bendis's run where he was apparently murdered in prison, only for it to be revealed later that he was placed in the federal Witness Protection Program. The Disney+ adaptation chose a more definitive path to maintain raw stakes for the MCU street-level narrative.
