Inside Kunle Afolayan’s Family: Eyiyemi at 21, Son Dieko’s Bold Stand, and the Children's True Ages
Eyiyemi "Princess" Afolayan is the most widely recognized of Kunle’s offspring. Born on September 11, 2004, she turned 21 in late 2025, marking her official transition from child prodigy into an independent creative professional. Her breakout screen debut occurred in the Netflix original film Aníkúlápó (2022), where she played Princess Omowunmi, the defiant royal whose narrative arc sparked intense conflict in the ancient Oyo Empire.
Her casting was not immediate. Kunle noted publicly that he auditioned several young women before settling on his daughter. The role required precise spoken Yoruba, period-accurate physical poise, and classical vocal chants. Eyiyemi had trained as a singer and had grown up surrounded by the Yoruba cultural preservation projects championed at the KAP Film Village in Komu, Oyo State. Her performance received critical praise, leading to reprised appearances in the streaming series follow-up, Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre (2024).
Now past 21, Eyiyemi manages a double life. She is completing her higher education while pursuing fashion modeling, brand partnerships, and selected screen scripts. Social media platforms often speculate on whether she will remain an exclusive collaborator with her father's studio. In red-carpet appearances and press interactions, Eyiyemi has stated that she intends to work across the broader African entertainment sector rather than relying solely on KAP productions.
