From 1984 Superstardom to Hollywood Tragedy: the Complete Airwolf Actor Timeline
The three decades following Vincent’s departure from Airwolf were marked by continuous personal and medical catastrophes. As major studio work dried up, the actor drifted into low-budget action thrillers, but even those opportunities dwindled as his legal and physical problems mounted.
In August 1996, Vincent broke three vertebrae in his neck and suffered permanent vocal cord damage when his car rear-ended another vehicle in Mission Viejo, California. The crash left him with a raspy, gravelly voice, effectively extinguishing any remaining chances of mainstream television work. In 2008, another serious traffic accident compromised his mobility.
The most punishing blow came in 2012, when a severe peripheral artery infection forced surgeons to amputate the lower portion of his right leg. Confined to a wheelchair and fitted with a prosthetic, Vincent spent his final years living quietly near Asheville, North Carolina, shielded from the public eye by his third wife, Patricia Ann Christ.
On February 10, 2019, Vincent died of cardiac arrest at Mission Hospital in Asheville at the age of 73. Mirroring the quiet isolation of his later years, his death was not publicly reported until nearly four weeks later, when death certificate filings surfaced in North Carolina public records.
