The Earle rumor was not Mendoza’s first brush with high-profile dating chatter. Just weeks earlier, on August 21, 2026, sports tabloids seized on alleged links between Mendoza and world champion figure skater Alysa Liu. The buzz surfaced right as Mendoza’s on-field profile expanded following a solid preseason showcase.
Mendoza had just steered the Raiders to a tight 22-20 victory over C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans on August 20, 2026. His poise under pressure and arm talent immediately commanded national coverage. Almost concurrently, casual social media interactions between Mendoza’s inner circle and figures close to Liu’s camp sparked speculation on Reddit sports communities.
Commentators debated whether the rookie had quietly discarded his monastic training habits. The crossover appeal of an ascending NFL passer and an Olympic figure skater gave the story legs, dominating sports-lifestyle blogs throughout late August. Liu’s camp made no public statements, and Mendoza stayed silent, deflecting off-field questions during post-practice press briefings.
