By James H. Sterling
Q1: Is Dear Daniel officially Hello Kitty's boyfriend?
Yes. Sanrio's official character profiles and licensed relationship charts state that Daniel Starr is Kitty White’s boyfriend and childhood sweetheart.
Q2: Did Sanrio announce that Dear Daniel identifies as female?
No. Independent fact-checkers, including Snopes, reviewed Sanrio's historical records and confirmed the claim was an unsubstantiated rumor sparked by viral social media videos.
Q3: Why is Daniel absent from some Hello Kitty merchandise lines?
Sanrio frequently markets Kitty solo or alongside her core Sanrio peers like My Melody, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll. In canon lore, Daniel's absences are explained by his father's international photography assignments and his own dance studies abroad.
Q4: What is Dear Daniel’s full canonical name?
His official full name is Daniel Starr. He shares the British setting with Kitty White, who resides with her parents in a London suburb.
