Part of why rumors of unreleased scenes spread so quickly is the known production history of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. At 766 pages in the UK edition, it was the longest novel in the series, yet director David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg turned it into the second-shortest film, clocking in at 138 minutes.

Fans know substantial material was cut. Warner Bros. left dozens of script pages unfilmed or trimmed during final post-production. The official home entertainment releases across DVD, Blu-ray, and Ultimate Editions released between 2007 and 2011 made these cuts public. Documented cut scenes include:

Harry sitting in the Gryffindor common room contemplating his isolation; extended dialogue inside the Department of Mysteries' Brain Room; additional moments featuring Neville Longbottom and the Death Eaters Sirius Black fought before his death; and extended shots of Dolores Umbridge patrolling the corridors of Hogwarts with Filch.

None of those cuts, whether preserved on physical discs or retained in studio vaults, contain an alternate sequence where Bellatrix tricks Harry. Warner Bros. preservation teams and production archivist records have detailed every recovered frame for anniversary retrospectives. A secret sequence where Bellatrix deceives the series protagonist simply does not exist in any studio vault.
