Everything You Want to Know About Napoleon Dynamite's Brother Kip: Actor, Quotes, and Life Today
By Chloe Bennett
Ruell never intended to build an onscreen acting career. He met director Jared Hess at Brigham Young University, where both studied film. Hess recognized Ruell's natural gift for understated physical humor and convinced him to step in front of the lens for the original short project and subsequent feature.
Alongside lead actor Jon Heder, Ruell helped shape the strange comedic rhythms that defined the cult classic comedy. The entire production operated on an ultra-tight budget of roughly $400,000, with the cast staying in local houses around Franklin County. Ruell brought a dry, unflappable energy to Kip that prevented the movie from sliding into mean-spirited parody.
