Everything You Need to Know About Anxious Panda on Omegle: Complete Q&A
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Q1: Was there only one person behind the Anxious Panda character?
A1: No. While a few popular YouTubers originally popularized the silent panda mask routine, dozens of independent streamers, pranksters, and TikTok creators adopted the exact same costume and tactics to generate viral engagement.
Q2: Why did Omegle shut down if these videos were so popular?
A2: Omegle closed permanently in November 2023 due to severe financial, legal, and moderation pressures. The founder noted that combating platform misuse and defending against mounting legal liabilities had become unsustainable.
Q3: Where can creators do these video chat pranks today?
A3: Most creators have relocated to alternatives such as OmeTV, Monkey, Chatroulette, and private Discord watch parties. However, newer platforms enforce much stricter automated moderation, banning accounts that obscure their webcams or use disruptive costumes.
