Everything You Need to Know About the Viral Metro Dance Craze and Regional Talent Spotlights
By Alexander Ross
Q1: What audio track is used in the viral Metro Man Megamind trend?
A1: The most common audio paired with the trend is a slowed, bass-boosted remix of "Close Eyes" by Ukrainian phonk producer DVRST, alongside various remixes of "Stayin' Alive" and trending hip hop mashups that accentuate dramatic, heavy steps.
Q2: How do dancers qualify for high school All-Metro honors?
A2: Dancers qualify through evaluations across their competitive season. Nominations are submitted by high school head coaches, followed by a review panel of athletic officials and local sports editors who evaluate kick precision, solo placement, leadership, and performance at regional and state championship meets.
Q3: Why are competitive dance studios increasingly adopting hip hop styles over traditional jazz?
A3: Modern scoring rubrics prioritize stylistic versatility and dynamic audience entertainment. While lyrical and jazz remain foundational for technical evaluation, commercial hip hop offers explosive musicality that scores exceptionally well in showmanship categories and appeals directly to younger dancers influenced by online platforms.
