Everything You Need to Know About Zendaya and Tom Holland's Height Difference
While studio executives embraced the natural pairing, practical production presented unique mechanical hurdles. During the filming of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the difference came to a head during wire work. Stunt sequences that involved swinging across bridges and landing on simulated concrete required precise choreography.
Because the scene called for Spider-Man to carry MJ through the air and land together on a platform, physics intervened. In standard wire drops, the stunt team balances weight and timing so both performers touch the deck in unison. Because Zendaya's legs are considerably longer, her feet made contact with the deck before Holland's feet could touch the surface.
Holland described the mechanic during their press appearances, explaining that Zendaya would land, Holland would swing past, and Zendaya would end up catching him to keep the superhero from crashing awkwardly into the set. The comedic reversal of typical comic-book hero staging required the stunt team to adjust harness tension and landing mats to prevent Holland's momentum from buckling.
