Planet Fitness built its brand reputation on accessible pricing and perpetual availability. However, true 24/7 gym access across all 2,500+ locations has quietly shifted over the past several years. Following widespread scheduling re-evaluations, many clubs transitioned to hybrid schedules, keeping 24-hour schedules strictly Tuesday through Thursday while curbing weekend hours.
When Easter arrives, that weekend schedule contracts even further. Unlike national commercial retail chains that operate under strict, centralized scheduling mandates, fitness clubs face distinct staffing liabilities. Planet Fitness maintains a strict policy requiring staffed front desk hours whenever club doors are unlocked for workouts.
Because safety protocols forbid unstaffed entry, the club cannot simply leave doors open for automated key-fob check-ins. If the local franchisee decides to give their front-desk team, custodial crew, and trainers the holiday off, the entire facility goes dark. Where locations do open their doors, members usually see truncated operating windows, commonly spanning from 7:00 AM until 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM, before closing early for family gatherings.
