Doja Cat's Signature Dance Moments Explained: All Your Questions Answered
By Marcus Vance
Q1: Which Doja Cat music video shows her defeating aliens by twerking?
A1: That scene occurs in the official music video for "Get Into It (Yuh)", released on January 31, 2022. She uses the dance move as a kinetic blast to defeat an alien squad holding her cat hostage.
Q2: Did Doja Cat actually dance in real mud at Coachella?
A2: Yes. During her headlining performance at Coachella in April 2024, she and her dance crew performed an extensive, highly physical routine inside a purpose-built mud pit on stage.
Q3: Who choreographed the viral dances to her biggest hits?
A3: Her routines are a mix of collaborative sources. While the original "Say So" TikTok sequence was created by dancer Haley Sharpe (which Doja later learned and officially adopted), her major tour and award show staging is developed alongside seasoned creative directors and commercial choreographers including Cortland Brown and Fullout Cort.
Q4: What was the alien theme during her 2021 award show run?
A4: Her sci-fi themes were part of the visual rollout for her third studio album, Planet Her (2021). She leaned heavily into retro-futuristic themes, Martian landscapes, and extraterrestrial backup dancers across the 2020 VMAs and 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
