Editing local files requires careful attention to Ubisoft Connect's automated cloud backups, which can overwrite manual adjustments if not handled properly.

  1. Close Rainbow Six Siege completely. Never edit `GameSettings.ini` while the game client or anti-cheat service runs in the background.
  2. Navigate to the settings folder: Press `Windows Key + R`, type `%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Rainbow Six - Siege`, and press Enter.
  3. Select your active profile: If multiple accounts have logged into your PC, you will see several folders with long strings of numbers and letters. Open the folder modified most recently.
  4. Create a manual backup: Duplicate `GameSettings.ini` and rename the copy `GameSettings_backup.ini`.
  5. Adjust the multiplier: Open `GameSettings.ini` using Notepad. Press `Ctrl + F`, search for `MouseSensitivityMultiplierUnit`, and change `0.020000` to your desired figure (such as `0.002000`).
  6. Save and secure the file: Save the text file. If Ubisoft Connect frequently resets your preferences, right-click `GameSettings.ini`, select Properties, check Read-only, and click Apply. Keep in mind that making the file read-only prevents in-game graphical changes from saving until you uncheck it.

Once you launch Siege, check your sensitivity menu. If you cut the multiplier from 0.02 to 0.002, multiply your previous in-game hipfire numbers by 10 to restore your prior physical turn distance.
