Decoded: the Original 'Nothing Personnel Kid' Image and Every Secret Hidden in It
By Chloe Bennett
Q1: Was Coldsteel the Hedgeheg drawn sincerely by a young child?
A: No. The character was created as a conscious satire by an online user named Brian (posting under the handle blood_edge) on DeviantArt in May 2013 to parody the widespread trend of edgy Sonic original characters.
Q2: Why did the post say "personnel" instead of "personal"?
A: The misspelling was intentional. The creator deliberately misspelled "personal" alongside "Hedgehog" (written as "Hedgeheg") to mimic the grammatical mistakes commonly found in amateur, adolescent fan art profiles of the era.
Q3: How did "teleports behind you" become associated with the quote?
A: While Coldsteel's original image did not include the exact stage direction "teleports behind you," early forum users on 4chan and Reddit paired Coldsteel's catchphrase with common anime combat tropes, merging them into a single copypasta format that defined mid-2010s meme culture.
