Complete Minecraft Bush Masterclass: How to Harvest, Shape, and Decorate
Placing a single leaf directly on grass creates a clump that looks flat and sunken. Realistic bushes have visible stems, air pockets, and irregular branch extensions. The most versatile technique relies on a single fence post base hidden beneath the foliage core.
Sink a cobblestone wall, spruce fence, or dark oak post into the ground, then mount your leaf block directly on top. The slender profile of the post creates the illusion of an exposed, woody stem lifting the leafy canopy off the soil. Flanking the main leaf with trapdoors, specifically dark oak or spruce varieties folded upwards, creates a miniature raised planter box that gives structured formality to city streets.
For larger, wild shrubbery, avoid symmetrical squares. Build an irregular L-shape across two or three blocks, mixing an opaque moss block at the base with transparent oak leaves on the edges. Adding green carpet or moss carpet on top of surrounding ground blocks smooths out the sharp grid edges, giving the bush an organic transition into the surrounding dirt.
