The Big House layout operates on a straightforward numbering system. The entire lower bowl consists of 44 distinct sections arranged in a continuous oval. Section 1 sits directly at the midfield line on the east sideline. From there, numbers ascend clockwise: Section 11 anchors the south end zone, Section 23 holds the west 50-yard line behind the Wolverines bench, Section 33 spans the north end zone, and Section 44 brings you back toward midfield.

Row depths catch first-time visitors off guard. Unlike modern NFL arenas divided into lower, middle, and upper decks, Michigan Stadium is predominantly one massive concrete basin. Sideline sections generally run from Row 1 to Row 85, 90, while end zones reach Row 96. The main pedestrian concourse enters around Row 72. When you step through your assigned portal, you will walk down toward the field for rows 1 through 71, or climb upward for rows 73 through 96.

Bleacher seats throughout the lower bowl are narrow aluminum benches with stamped numbers. If you buy standard bowl tickets, expect roughly 16 to 18 inches of hip space. Renting a stadium chair with back support on the concourse costs roughly $10 to $15 and claims your allotted width before neighboring fans crowd the bench.
