'Clock Strikes 12, Midnight Arrives': Full Lyrics and Viral Duet Breakdown
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
Q1: Who originally recorded the 'Clock strikes 12, midnight arrives' audio?
A1: The audio originated from a roleplay content creator on TikTok who posted an open duet intended for collaborative gothic fantasy acting. The original poster later adjusted privacy settings after the clip evolved into a viral parody format.
Q2: Is the audio sampled from an existing movie, anime, or video game?
A2: No. The line is not taken from a licensed theatrical production or soundtrack. It was an original, unscripted monologue delivered straight to a smartphone camera by the creator.
Q3: Why did the audio trigger so many duets instead of standard sound re-uses?
A3: The original post explicitly enabled TikTok's duet and stitch tools, featuring deliberate blank spaces designed for another person to speak. Parody creators repurposed those exact pauses to stage humorous, awkward reactions.
